Wolves are reportedly in talks with Atletico Madrid again regarding the potential transfer of Felipe.
Julen Lopetegui is determined to expand his centre-back options this month as games come thick and fast.
Currently, the Spaniard only has four to choose from: Nathan Collins, Maximilian Kilman, Toti Gomes and Yerson Mosquera.
This week, there have been new links to West Ham United defender.
But Wolves are also back in the hunt for Felipe, who was first linked with the club back at the start of December.
It had all gone quiet in the last couple of weeks. But journalist Fernando Kallas appeared on Sky Sports News this morning to report that Wolves and Atleti were talking, with a view to him joining ‘in the next few days’.
Fabrizio Romano, who first reported Wolves’ interest in Felipe, has also said today that discussions are taking place again.
This move coming to fruition would then allow Atleti to sign Caglar Soyuncu from Leicester City. They’ve been linked with the Turkey international for weeks.
There is still no word yet on how much Felipe could cost Wolves.
But the star is 33 and his contract is expiring in the summer. It is reasonable to assume that he would not break the bank.
Felipe and Craig Dawson in, Yerson Mosquera to head out on loan for Wolves?
So Wolves are seemingly back in for Felipe, and it is interesting given the new Dawson links.
Perhaps Lopetegui is keen to bring both in.
Should that happen, then it would probably be that Yerson Mosquera leaves the club on loan.
He had been due to leave Wolves on deadline day last summer. But the club’s failure to bring Dawson in scuppered the plans. He has not played a single minute this season.
If Wolves are able to land Felipe and Dawson, then the picture would be looking much better.
That would be two very experienced centre-halves through the door, who could provide cover and competition for Collins and Kilman.
