Wolves transfer news: Dario Osorio set to sign for Wolves

Wolves are reportedly set to complete the signing of Dario Osorio.

According to South American journalist Maks Cárdenas of ESPN, Wanderers are winning the race for the young attacker, who plays Universidad de Chile.

The club were linked a few times with Osorio earlier this summer.

But there was one claim that the club knew nothing about the 18-year-old.

But it seems there could be something in it, with Cárdenas going as far as to claim there is an agreement in place.

He is quoted by Red Gol as saying: “Osorio is ready, he’s sold and look what I’m going to tell you, one of the top three teams in Serie A came to me for Osorio, I cannot say which one, who went to see him against England in Murcia.

“But here between corridors I heard out there that he’s already sold to Wolves for €6 million (£5.3 million).”

Osorio made his debut for Universidad de Chile’s first-team in 2021.

He has developed well since, and made his debut for the senior Chile national side back in June against Tunisia. He then got another cameo against Ghana the following game.

Earlier this year, former Universidad de Chile player Cristian Leiva urged Osorio to remain at his current club, amid transfer links to Wolves.

He told El Mercurio (via Bolavip): “Sometimes the rush for money leads a young player to leave. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Look what happened to Angelo Araos.”

But Osorio’s teammate Emmanuel Ojeda added: “When there is an opportunity to go (to Europe), you have to do it. I didn’t, and later you regret it. You have to look for other experiences.

“He is a very good player. A gem. If he has to go, we will miss him. But it is what he has to do.”

Could Wolves unearth another Chiquinho in Dario Osorio?

The Osorio links have been around for some time now.

It would seem that there is something in this, and it’s a fairly bold claim from Cardenas.

One wonders if Wolves could perhaps looks to enjoy success with this deal as they did with Chiquinho.

The 22-year-old joined Wolves back in January from Estoril and not much was really made of his signing at the time.

But he turned out to be a really exciting addition for very little outlay. And it is a huge shame he suffered a really bad injury in pre-season.

Perhaps Wolves will be onto another gem though in Osorio.
