He has been there since 2017 after joining from Real Betis.

Minutes had been hard to come by this season for Ceballos in the first half of the season.

But he has seen a little more involvement since the turn of the year under Carlo Ancelotti.

From the end of January to the end of February, Cebellos became a regular start for the Spanish giants. So far this month though he has been back on the benching and coming on for cameos.

Ceballos, who had a couple of seasons on loan at Arsenal, has been speaking about his future with his current deal expiring.

He told Marca that he hasn’t actually had any talks with Real yet about extending.

He said: “I haven’t spoken to Real Madrid about renewal all season. There are two very interesting months ahead. I’m calm. It’s time to enjoy these two months. If I think about renewal, I think I’m wrong. It’s time to enjoy football and now I can go one step further with the national team. It’s what it takes.”

In the summer of 2021, Wolves were linked with Ceballos. It was claimed they were in a position to afford his transfer.

Ahead of the January 2023 transfer window, Wolves were linked with the player again. Apparently, Lopetegui was interested in his fellow countryman.

Ceballos also said in his interview that he has had contact with other clubs.

“I had contacts with some teams. But focusing now on the outside would be, with three competitions ahead, a lack of respect for my club, my teammates and my coach,” he added.

Wolves ought to keep an eye on Dani Ceballos situation, as midfielder reveals he hasn’t had any renewal talks

These are some intriguing comments from Ceballos regarding his future.

The fact he has not yet had any renewal talks with Real might point to him leaving as a free agent. Surely, if the club wanted to keep him, this would have been sorted by now. Or at least, some kind of conversation about it would have taken place.

One wonders if Wolves have had any contact, with Ceballos admitting he’s spoken to other clubs.

Wanderers could potentially be losing midfielders this summer.

Ruben Neves and Matheus Nunes have both been linked with moves away.

And Joao Moutinho, 36, may not be offered a new deal when his current one expires this summer.
