Wolves transfer news: Crystal Palace confident they can convince Gibbs-White to join them

Crystal Palace are reportedly now the frontrunners to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves.

90min are reporting today that the Eagles are in pole position to sign the 22-year-old.

In recent days, there have been reports that Everton are in for the midfielder.

But it seems Patrick Vieira’s side are the best placed to sign him at the moment.

The Frenchman has encouraged his superiors to push ahead with a deal, as he sees him as an ideal replacement for Conor Gallagher, who has returned to Chelsea following his loan spell.

Palace think Gibbs-White can progress to the senior England squad if he makes a move to them.

The club have had real success on that front in recent times, with Gallagher, Marc Guehi and Tyrick Mitchell all getting call-ups and caps from Gareth Southgate.

They believe their success could mean Gibbs-White may find them a tempting prospect.

The club is said to be confident of persuading him to make a move.

But it remains to be seen if an agreement between Palace and Wolves can be reached.

The Athletic have reported that Wanderers would expect to receive around £30 million for Gibbs-White if they were to sell.

That would be a lot of money to pay for someone who is still unproven at Premier League level. But given the level of interest in him, it’s possible Palace, or another club, could stump up the cash.

Gibbs-White may well be tempted by Crystal Palace move

Crystal Palace are in a good way right now.

Vieira did a good job in his first season and has his team heading in the right direction.

There is a talented squad of players at Selhurst Park, and Gibbs-White may well see himself fitting in well.

Southgate handing England chances to several of their players last season is surely something that will appeal.

If Wolves do come to a decision to sell, then hopefully the club will be able to bring in the £30 million suggested by The Athletic.
