Wolves transfer news: Conor Coady set for Leicester medical tomorrow

Conor Coady is set to undergo a medical with Leicester City tomorrow ahead of an £8.5 million move.

It was reported yesterday that the Foxes were closing in on a transfer for the 30-year-old.

But it was also suggested that Leicester have seen a bid turned down.

Apparently, Leicester are keen to get a deal finalised by the weekend.

Coady’s future has been up in the air over the last few weeks, after Everton decided against buying him after his loan spell.

He had been due to return to Wolves for pre-season

But it looks like that will now not be happening…

Conor Coady set for Leicester medical

According to Fabrizio Romano this evening, Coady is now set to have a medical with Leicester tomorrow.

An agreement has been reached between the two clubs, with the Foxes set to pay £7.5 initially, and a further £1 million in add-ons. Those add-ons will be paid if Leicester seal promotion back to the Premier League (Express & Star).

Prior to the news about Leicester being keen, Coady was also apparently on the radar of Sheffield United.

Nottingham Forest have also been credited with an interest.

Wolves selling Coady for £8.5 million would see the club make about four times what they paid to sign him from Huddersfield Town back in 2015.

But given how good Coady was for Wolves in the Premier League, he could easily have been sold for a lot more money last summer.

This is a surprising deal.

Just because of the clause that was negotiated with Everton, which the Toffees ultimately didn’t trigger.

You would have thought that interested clubs would have been looking to sign Coady for around the same price.

But Wolves clearly felt they could squeeze a bit more out of other clubs, despite a tough season for the England international.

Getting £8.5 million is good business, for a player who no longer suits Wolves’ system.

Coady is a phenomenal leader and a good player in the right system.

But he surely just wouldn’t have started regularly for Wolves in a back four now.

Hopefully he is able to rejuvenate his career at Leicester.
