Wolverhampton Wanderers may have to look elsewhere for a new central midfielder.
According to a report from Grada 3, Carles Alena is keen to fight for his place at Barcelona, despite being quite low down in the pecking order.
The 23-year-old went on loan to Getafe last term, and also spent half a season with Real Betis previously.
Alena, once tipped to be the future of Barcelona’s midfield, wants to instigate a renaissance at the Nou Camp.
But he may not get his wish.
Despite him wanting to remain, Barca still see him as a saleable asset.
It was reported by Sport earlier this week that Wolves are interested in Alena, and that he had a valuation of about £7 million.
Supposedly, Alena has communicated his wishes to Barca through his agent, and is hoping to be given a chance.
Wolves need to steer clear if player doesn’t want move
If it’s true that Alena is determined to stay at Barcelona, then it’s perhaps advisable for the club to look elsewhere.
He is a talented player, but Wolves have to ensure that players actually want to come to Molineux.
Alena could well change his stance as the weeks go by.
In that case Wolves can perhaps think about making a move.
But if there would be any hint of the Spaniard’s heart not being fully in a move to the Black Country, then it needs knocking on the head.
