Wolves remain linked with Matheus Nunes, but could now face competition from Barcelona.
According to Record, the Spanish giants are poised to hijack Wolves’ move for the 23-year-old Sporting CP midfielder.
Wolves have been strongly linked with Nunes for the past few weeks.
It is thought Bruno Lage really wants the dynamo in a bid to reinvigorate the midfield.
Reports in Portugal have suggested that Wolves’ chances of signing the player are good.
Record say that Molineux the most likely destination for the player this summer.
And now, Record say that Barcelona are in the frame, with Jorge Mendes having had a meeting with the club.
Nunes was mentioned as a possible signing, but any move for them would likely be dependent on Frenkie de Jong leaving.
The Netherlands international has been linked with Manchester United recently and could well depart the Nou Camp.
More competition for Wolves for another of their transfer targets as Barcelona eye Matheus Nunes
Wolves fans are getting used to it at this point.
A string of names have been linked with moves to Molineux, only for other clubs to then join Wanderers in the race.
Arguably, Nunes is the midfielder Wolves need the most this summer.
At the moment, Lage doesn’t have someone in his engine room with any real mobility or ability to drive forwards with the ball.
Nunes is fantastic at breaking the lines, and is better physically than Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho, who are more technical.
It remains to be seen if Barcelona, or Wolves for the matter, will be able to afford the talented maestro.
