As Roma have reportedly abandoned their pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Rui Patricio.
According to Fanta Calcio, the scenario has now changed.
For the past couple of weeks it has seemed very likely that the 33-year-old would be heading for the Stadio Olimpico.
But apparently his profile doesn’t fully convince the Giallorossi management. A deal, therefore, will not be done.
In addition to that, it’s explained Wolves were asking for too much money for Patricio.
Roma were supposedly offering about £6 million. Wolves are said to have wanted £10 million.
And it seems Roma are already looking at alternatives. Atalanta stopper Pierluigi Gollini is mentioned.
The Patricio to Roma links have been around for a good few weeks.
Frustration for the hierarchy
If Roma really have walked away from the Patricio deal then that will be a frustration for the Wolves board.
Given Patricio has a year left on his contract, it’s seemed like they’ve wanted to cash on on the veteran.
In addition to the Patricio reports, there have been claims about potential replacements for Wolves.
Jose Sa has been linked, as has Bartlomiej Dragowski.
It remains to be seen if Wolves drop their asking price in the hope of luring Roma back to the table.
