Reported Wolves target Andre Almeida is set to join Valencia.
According to AS, the Spanish outfit are close to closing a deal for the midfielder from Vitoria Guimaraes.
They are firmly in pole position to sign him, and they are trying to conclude a permanent deal rather than a loan. It is reported that deal could be for around £6 million.
Almeida is a player that has supposedly been on Wolves’ radar in recent weeks.
The Portugal U21 midfielder has been of interest to Wanderers, and it was claimed by journalist Pedro Sepulveda that the club was still keen even after signing Matheus Nunes.
He claimed that Almeida was interested in potentially signing for Wolves or FC Porto.
But it is Valencia who have emerged to swoop for the 22-year-old.
He is set to go and work with Gennaro Gattuso in Spain, and follow Nico Gonzalez to the club.
Gonzalez was another player Wolves reportedly had some interest in earlier this summer. The midfielder recently joined on loan. He’s already made a couple of appearances for the club.
He could potentially now forge a midfield partnership with Almeida.
Valencia a team to watch for Wolves fans to keep an eye on this season, with Almeida set to link up with Gonzalez
So Valencia are poised to land a second player Wolves have been strongly linked with.
It will be interesting to see how the Spanish club get on this season after signing two very talented young midfield players. Assuming Almeida does complete his move as expected.
Wolves supposedly still had interest in signing Almeida after bringing in Nunes. So he, in particular, will be one to keep an eye out for.
It remains to be seen if Wanderers will seek to make a move for another midfield player this summer.
Or perhaps Bruno Lage will decide to put his faith in Connor Ronan and/or Luke Cundle.
