Wolves captain Nelson Semedo is attracting a lot of transfer interest as he nears the end of his contract.
With only four games of the Premier League season remaining, Wolves are yet to make a decision on Semedo, whose contract expires in the summer.
Vitor Pereira wants Semedo to stay, which could be a factor that keeps the defender at Molineux beyond the 2024/25 campaign.
It’s been a rollercoaster ride regarding speculation during the Portugal international’s season, as initially, it was understood that Semedo could return to Benfica.
The right-back was open to ending his career at his boyhood club however, another possibility has since emerged.

Nelson Semedo transfer update emerges
Wolves fans became excited as Semedo addressed his future at Molineux, admitting that he believes a deal to extend his stay is ‘possible’.
The news of the club captain staying would be music to the Old Gold and Periera’s ears, as Semedo has been a crucial part of the squad’s resurgence this season.
That being said, it’s understood that a transfer as a free agent cannot be ruled out just yet, as Ben Jacobs explained on The Wolfpack Podcast.
“Nelson Semedo, I expect to be in demand. It’s a market value opportunity, 31, at this stage it may be that age starts to put clubs off,” Jacobs explained before ruling one club out of the race.
“One enquiry that had come in was from MLS and NYCFC, and I think the player wasn’t particularly keen about going over to America at this stage of his career.”
Though Semedo isn’t sold on the MLS project, what Jacobs said next comes as quite a surprise, as the journalist urged Wolves to monitor interest from Saudi Arabia.
“There’s been some tentative interest from Spain and Turkey. And again, Saudi, as you’d expect from this kind of deal, but not interestingly one of the big PIF-run clubs, so I would keep an eye on some of the smaller Saudi Pro League sides for Semedo.
“Where, he’d still be able to make some good money, but not the astronomical figures that sometimes you’re reading in the media. I think the player, from what I’m told, might be open to a Saudi move on the right terms.”
Jacobs then revealed that Al-Khaleej made contact with Semedo, a team that sits 10th in the Saudi Pro League at present.
“It was Al-Khaleej who were the club that enquired about his situation in January and pitched the project to him, and they would still need some central funding to pull off the deal.
“Saudi can’t be ruled out either, I think that’s a good market value opportunity for some teams looking for a bit of leadership and experience, he’s still only early thirties.”
Another English club eyeing Semedo
While at present, Semedo’s next steps remain up in the air, Jacobs named another club that are interested in the defender, this time a side closer to home.
“I’m not aware of any rival Premier League interest at this stage, but Leeds might be one to watch,” he revealed.
The journalist then explained why, despite showing moderate interest in the Wolves captain, Leeds could be tempted to look elsewhere.
“The only thing that might put them off Semedo, to my knowledge, is that Leeds will be going for a left-sided rather than a right-sided full back.
“We’ll have to wait and see how they move, and if by moving into the Premier League, they feel like an experienced player of his calibre is somebody that they choose to escalate, because at the moment, these are just internal discussions and names at these clubs.”
It remains to be seen what happens to Semedo beyond this season, with the Portugal international having many suitors, including Wolves, whom he’s represented for almost five years.
