Wolves will hope to have a busy summer in the transfer window however, Gary O’Neil will be wary of potential departures as well as being on the hunt for new faces.
Last summer was a nightmare for Wolves, meaning that this summer can only be an improvement on the financial horrors that restricted the Old Gold in the 2023 transfer window.
After navigating through the 2023/24 season expertly with his shortened squad, Gary O’Neil will be eager to receive financial support from Fosun to welcome much-needed reinforcements to Molineux.

Earlier in the year, there was talk that Wolves could push for a European finish in the Premier League, however, a dip in form attributed to a lack of depth burst such aspirations.
Now, O’Neil will both seek fresh talent in the transfer market and ensure that he can retain the majority of his squad from this season, with a host of names linked with a move away.
Joao Gomes could leave Wolves this summer
Last month, it was suggested that Joao Gomes could be a target for Arsenal this summer, with talks even said to be planned between the midfielder and the Gunners.
Signed by Julen Lopetegui in January 2023 for just £15m, the Brazilian’s status in the Premier League has skyrocketed, with his performances for Wolves earning him a call-up to the national team.
While the club will be braced for offers for the 23-year-old, journalist Liam Keen has opened up about what he believes would be the best route for Wolves regarding Gomes’ future.

Speaking on The Keen & Judah Show, the Wolves expert explained why the Old Gold must retain the midfielder for one more season for reasons aside from his footballing ability.
“He’s tenacious, he’s a brilliant ball winner and he’s someone who wanted to be at Wolves and wanted to go out there and perform in gold and black.
“I see him playing another next season at Wolves and then that’s when the big offers come in.
“I think if Wolves can hold onto him and get a massive transfer fee out of him next summer, that would be the perfect scenario for everyone.
“If you let him then go for £60m-£70m the following summer, that is then perfect business for Wolves as long as they go on and use that money wisely.”
Another season at Molineux could be fundamental to Joao Gomes and Wolves
While attractive offers from Champions League clubs could come, to echo Keen’s comments, it could be in the best interest of both Wolves and Gomes for the 23-year-old to stay with O’Neil.
Another season could not only assist the Old Gold in boosting their outlook in what will be the manager’s second season at Molineux but could hand Wolves an even greater profit on the budding talent.
Like many players his age, Gomes is sculpting into an exemplary young talent however, there is room for improvement still there, as seen when he was dropped out of O’Neil’s favoured XI for a spell earlier this term in a bid to boost his form.
When assessing how much the Brazilian has improved this campaign, it’s astounding to think of the level he could further develop with another season under O’Neil in the Premier League, benefitting the player and his price tag.
