Wolves are set to rival Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs in the race to sign Al-Ittihad’s forgotten man Jota on loan in January.
Before Pedro Neto‘s injury, the Portuguese winger was heavily linked with making a move away from Wolves.
The winger had been rumoured to have interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United to name a few.
So the mention of Wolves having an interest in signing a similar winger makes perfect sense, as a Neto sale would require a replacement to be brought in for Gary O’Neil.
The name that has now been mentioned with Wolves’ interest is former Celtic man, Jota who is currently in Saudi Arabia for Al Ittihad where he has barely featured.

Wolves now interested in Jota
According to a report from The Sun, Jota is being targeted for a January loan move by Spurs and now Wolves.
Wolves’ interest likely comes as a response to potentially losing Neto while Spurs’ will stem from the fact that Postecoglou has worked with him before.
Wolves will be encouraged by the type of player Jota is too, with his former coach at Benfica, Joao Tralhao, labelling him “an old-school winger.”
His stats from his time at Celtic demonstrate exactly why Wolves would want to sign him as a Neto replacement, with his £193k-a-week wages likely to be heavily subsidised by the selling club.
Jota on the wing for Wolves along with Neto could be deadly
While it’s easy to assume Jota coming in would mean Neto leaves, the fact a loan move is being suggested could mean Wolves plan on possibly having both running down either flank at Molineux.
Both players can play to equal success on either wing which means they could swap regularly throughout games to keep defenders guessing.
Last year for Celtic he played 43 games and in those, he scored 15 goals and assisted 12. His consistency can be seen as the season before he was also incredible with 13 goals and 14 assists, this time in 40 games, according to Transfermarkt.
If Jota could raise his game to the Premier League standard, Wolves could boast a winger pairing as exciting as any other in the league. It is also worth noting that Postecoglou’s talent ID so far seems excellent so if he wants Jota, we can be confident he will be a success.
