Wolves-tipped Dwight McNeil looks almost certain to leave Everton with price tag revealed

Wolves will need to have a big January window, but their signings will be impacted by the Premier League’s homegrown rule, and Dwight McNeil has previously been tipped as a possible option.

When it comes to signings in January, it feels clear that Wolves need players who can take on a man and can drive the ball forward.

A player who can lift the crowd with exciting dribbling, provide some creativity, and really make the Old Gold look like a threat. However, Wolves fans have told Fosun they want a different position prioritised.

Which position do Wolves need to prioritise in January?

At Molineux News, we felt Dwight McNeil would be the perfect first signing for Rob Edwards.

And after his name had previously been mentioned with Wolves, an update on his future at Everton has now come out.

When Rob Edwards took over at Wolves, Dwight McNeil was tipped as a potential first signing by Daily Mail writer Tom Collomosse.

The Englishman has barely featured for the Toffees, and with the Old Gold needing more wide players and attackers, it did make a lot of sense.

The player himself is sure to be unhappy with his lack of minutes this season with zero Premier League starts, and an update about his future has now come out.

Journalist Alan Nixon revealed on his Patreon that Dwight McNeil’s ‘days at Everton seem numbered – and he could move in the New Year.’

According to the information shared by Nixon, Everton are looking for around £20 million for him to leave the club.

At that price, it is surely worth having a punt. The Old Gold do not have time to dither on their options, and with relegation staring them in the face, they must be decisive.

McNeil has also previously been part of relegation battles with both Burnley and Everton and could bring those experiences with him should survival still be a plausible option by January.

Wolves need Premier League-proven players

Any player Wolves sign in January needs to come in with already proven experience in England’s top flight.

The Wanderers no longer have the luxury of waiting for their new signings to adapt, and new arrivals must be a ‘plug and play’ option.

Dwight McNeil certainly fits that mould.

There are other wide options for Wolves to look at, but McNeil’s combination of age, experience, and readiness to play at the Premier League level are appealing traits.

At 26 years old, he has the perfect blend of maturity and still has time to improve as a player.

His arrival would also mean that nobody at the club would have to make way for his inclusion, as he would be counted as homegrown.
