Wolves think £5m target could genuinely be perfect mentor for ‘professional’ 20-year-old

Wolves are reportedly in talks with West Ham United to sign Aaron Cresswell – and the club apparently see him as an ideal mentor for Hugo Bueno.

Wanderers have already landed one full-back this summer in Matt Doherty.

The 31-year-old is back at Molineux and will now try and push Nelson Semedo.

Wolves are looking to add another experienced full-back in the form of Cresswell, who only has one year left on his contract at the London Stadium.

It is thought that the Hammers are holding out for around £5 million.

Cresswell has a lot of experience, and Wolves feel this could really help one player in particular.

Bueno burst onto the scene last season for Wolves, and was a shining light in what was a pretty erratic campaign for the club.

Bueno was superb at left-back, and always played without fear.

He quickly became a real favourite after making his debut, and the club think very highly of him.

Julen Lopetegui has also stated previously that he thinks Bueno has the potential to become a top player. He said: “He has the profile of player, if you ask me, that he is going to improve. He is very professional and he wants to learn in his daily work. This is the first step to improve in the next years.”

Wolves feel bringing Cresswell in will give the Spaniard a good push.

Aaron Cresswell could be very good for Bueno

It is understandable that Wolves would want to add a more experienced player at left-back.

Bueno has been brilliant since he broke through for Wolves.

But he is obviously still very young and has a lot to learn.

Cresswell has had a great career. He’s been a reliable performer for West Ham in the Premier League.

He will undoubtedly have a few pearls of wisdom to pass on to Bueno. The Englishman has excellent delivery into the box. This is a trait Bueno also has.

Perhaps Cresswell could help to improve Bueno defensively though, which would be brilliant.
