Wolves target Dani Ceballos has unpleasant memories of England

Wolves have received a possible transfer blow, with a report claiming midfielder Dani Ceballos is not so keen on making a move to England.

The Real Madrid midfielder currently stands to leave the club at the end of the season.

His contract is expiring, meaning there is a chance of him leaving the Bernabeu as a free agent.

But Ceballos is currently in the team and playing well.

He has stepped up in the absence of Luka Modric through injury.

Potentially, he will be starting the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna this weekend, and against Manchester City in the Champions League next week.

The Athletic have provided some information about Ceballos’ situation.

Apparently, Real will wait until the end of the season before deciding whether or not to offer him a new contract.

But in the meantime Ceballos has been exploring other options.

It is stated he met with an important representation agency a few months ago to find out what offers they could put on the table.

Supposedly, Ceballos gives low preference to making a move to England. It’s stated he has ‘unpleasant memories of his time there’. A few years ago, he spent two seasons on loan with Arsenal.

Ceballos’ priority is to stay in Spain if he does not extend with Real. He would then consider moving to Italy or Germany.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Wolves were interested in signing Ceballos.

Julen Lopetegui has worked with the player previously and seems to rate him highly.

So it looks as though Wolves’ hopes of signing Ceballos this summer have been dashed.

It is a shame, because he seems like he would be a decent player to sign if Ruben Neves left the club.

He’s matured since his loan stint with Arsenal, and many Real Madrid fans are going wild for him right now.

He’s put in some brilliant performances lately, and looks to be developing into a top player.

If he keeps this level up until the end of the season he surely won’t be short of options. But you would think Real would definitely tie him down if he does continue on like this.
