Wolves are in for a busy few days with the transfer window closing next Friday – and the club are said to have now made a ‘firm offer’ for a player in the Championship.
Wanderers made a very positive start to the summer on the transfers front.
But things have slowed down in recent weeks and two high-profile players have left in Max Kilman and Pedro Neto.
There is a feeling of unease creeping in for some in the fanbase at the moment. Wolves are hoping to push for European football this season, but that will be difficult if there are no new additions.
A report from the Telegraph yesterday left some supporters feeling a little disappointed. That report suggested the budget for the rest of the window is only around £20 million.
We will see what Wolves manage to come up with, but apparently one offer has now gone in for Dara O’Shea.
Wolves have now made ‘firm offer’ for Burnley defender Dara O’Shea

It has been reported by Sky Sports’ Johnny Phillips via his Substack that Wolves have now tabled a ‘firm offer’ for Burnley defender Dara O’Shea.
It was reported yesterday in the Telegraph’s piece about the club’s budget that Wolves were battling Brentford for the Republic of Ireland defender.
The acquisition of a central defender is a priority for Gary O’Neil before the deadline.
O’Shea – who has 26 caps for his country – is someone who has Premier League experience, having played in the top-flight in 2023/24 with the Clarets and previously with West Bromwich Albion.
He made 33 appearances last season, and has made 61 in total in the competition having previously played in the top-flight with former club West Brom.
Burnley would be hoping to make a profit on O’Shea, who cost them around £7 million from the Baggies.
It is currently unclear how much Wolves’ bid for O’Shea – who earns around £20,000 per week – is worth.
Wolves must work fast to secure new centre-back
It is essential that Wolves land a new centre-back before next Friday’s deadline.
Yerson Mosquera looks like he will be a fine addition to the first-team squad after developing out on loan, but there are question marks over the others.
Craig Dawson is not getting any younger and as reliable as he has been in a Wolves shirt, it is not out of the question we could see a decline from him this term.
Toti Gomes has been dependable for Wolves, but mostly in a back three. He was shaky on Saturday against Arsenal, with Andy Thompson branding him ‘jittery’ in the ball.
The jury is still out on Santi Bueno, despite some decent showings.
Wolves simply must land a new central defender, whether it be O’Shea or someone else. To stand still would be a grave error.
