Wolves striker Fabio Silva now makes astonishing claim in new interview

Wolves striker Fabio Silva has made some very interesting new comments which will have some people seriously questioning the board.

Fabio Silva has just finished his third loan spell away from Wolves, having spent the second half of 2023/24 at Rangers. The youngster wasn’t in the plans of Gary O’Neil, who quickly sanctioned his exit in January.

Silva did not have the best of spells at Ibrox. In 25 appearances he scored just six goals, and at times he frustrated supporters with his theatrics and response to criticism.

Previously, Silva had loan spells at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven last season.

A lot of Wolves fans have struggled to understand the Silva transfer – and by the sounds of it, the player himself also didn’t really understand it either…

At this point, most Wolves fans would not be upset if Silva left the club this summer.

It just hasn’t worked out for him since his £35 million move to Molineux from FC Porto, which was heavily influenced by the super agent Jorge Mendes.

Silva has never had a run in the Wolves team, and the feeling has been that he just isn’t really cut out for the rigours of the English game.

Silva’s transfer to Woles raised eyebrows because of the money involved. And it turns out, Silva didn’t really have much of a say in the move. He is quoted by O Jogo as saying: “I knew it wasn’t the right time. It wasn’t my intention to go to Wolverhampton at that time, I wanted to stay one or two more years at FC Porto. I was almost forced. They told me that if I didn’t go, they would force me to play in the reserve team, that if I didn’t go I wouldn’t help the club, because they didn’t have any money… There was no way out. There was no way out.

“I was 18 years old and had finished my first full season, but I didn’t play the whole season, just 15-20 minutes a game. I wanted to stay at my club, FC Porto, to have a bigger impact. I had other interested parties, but everything pointed to me signing for Wolves.”

As for the future, it is clear that Silva now wants to end his Wolves nightmare.

“It’s no secret that I don’t want to stay at Wolverhampton. We both agree, now we have to try to find the best situation for both of us to be happy.”

Silva adds that he has already told his agent that he would like to play in Spain next. He believes his style fits the Spanish game.

Fabio Silva transfer has been absolute disaster

These are some remarkable comments, and paint the Wolves board in a very bad light.

Silva’s transfer felt odd at the time. He had barely played for the first-team, and yet he made a move to Molineux for a whopping £35 million. Clearly, not enough due diligence was done.

Silva has been unlucky at times. He really didn’t need to be thrust into the spotlight as he was when Raul Jimenez got injured in his first season. But ultimately, he has shown nowhere near enough during his time at Molineux.

While he has disappointed, the buck stops with the board on this. To sign a player who never truly wanted the move in the first place is shocking.
