Wolves star faces uncertain future as sources reveal ‘major interest’ from Liverpool and Chelsea

Wolves will be wary of other clubs eyeing their best talent amid a relegation battle in the Premier League.

It’s not been the start to the season that Gary O’Neil would have wanted at Molineux, as Wolves sit bottom of the pile with just three points from a possible 30.

The start has supporters worrying about how the table could look in May, with a real concern over relegation setting in as a result of poor form.

O’Neil’s issues haven’t just been this term, as Wolves are alarmingly on a run of just one win in 20 Premier League matches.

Wolves transfer news: Rayan Ait-Nouri in demand

Wolves’ poor form aside, there is also concern over how the squad could be split up in the transfer window.

While the Old Gold sitting bottom of the table is not a good look, clubs outside of Molineux understand the talent that O’Neil has in his squad.

Sources have told Molineux News of attention that one player is generating around Europe, as Rayan Ait-Nouri’s future in Wolverhampton is in doubt.

The left-back has been a top performing under O’Neil since the manager’s arrival at the start of the 2023/24 campaign, with clubs both inside and outside the Premier League noticing that.

Sources told us that Ait-Nouri is of “major interest” to Liverpool and Chelsea, as well as other clubs around Europe.

It’s said that the defender is ticking a lot of boxes for admirers of the Algerian, who joined Wolves on an initial loan from Angers in 2020.

Liverpool are claimed to be the most interested party in Ait-Nouri at present, with sources telling us that the £10m signing is “very high” on the Reds’ radar.

Ait-Nouri likely to leave Wolves

The news of interest in the defender won’t come as a surprise to Wolves fans, as Ait-Nouri was linked to Premier League clubs in the summer.

O’Neil’s favoured left-back remained at Wolves despite speculation however, it’s now understood that this could be the Algeria international’s final season in Old Gold.

Close sources informed us that the 2024/25 campaign will represent Ait-Nouri’s last at Wolves, with it most likely that the 23-year-old will leave in the summer rather than the January window.

It’s a shame for Wolves, but represents one of the more expected transfers, as Ait-Nouri’s rise in the Premier League has been impossible to ignore since his resurgence under O’Neil.
