Wolves’ stance on selling Jhon Arias in January as a return to Brazil looms

Jhon Arias’ future has been up in the air for many months despite only joining Wolves in the summer.

Arias was tipped as Wolves’ “Matheus Cunha” replacement, and in hindsight, it was perhaps an unfair representation of the player they were getting.

The expectations were huge for the Colombian, who impressed in the Club World Cup for Fluminense over the summer.

However, just months on, Brazilian clubs are circling to bring him back to South America.

Typically, letting a signing leave after just a couple of months is not ideal and does not happen often.

But Wolves’ stance on that has now been revealed.

How should Wolves approach the January window?

Utilise loan deals? Tempt World Cup fringe players with game time? Start building for the Championship?

Jhon Arias has had a torrid time in England. The Colombian came to the Premier League in such high esteem, but he has not even come close to the heights many expected.

His inability to adapt to Premier League football has led to speculation about his future, and twists in that story continue to come out.

Journalist Alex Crook has delivered an update on Jhon Arias and the circumstances that would lead to the winger being sold.

Crook said (via talkSPORT), “I was told that his people are saying he is reasonably settled at Molineux, but the impression I get is if Wolves got their money back, they would be tempted to cash in.”

When it comes to fans, Wolves supporters believe Arias should be sold. The winger simply has yet to kick on, and while there have been glimpses, there has been no concrete proof he can turn a corner.

And if Wolves do get that offer close to their money back, it is clear what should happen.

Wolves should accept any offer for Jhon Arias that gets their money back

If Wolves get an offer for Jhon Arias that gets them their money back, they should immediately accept that.

Relegation looks almost guaranteed for the Old Gold, and a player like Jhon Arias, who was at the top of his game in Brazil, will likely not want to stick around in England’s second division.

Recouping as much of the £19 million fee as possible would be a successful deal, and if the Wanderers can somehow manage to get a profit, they would snap your hand off.

There is a quality player there in Jhon Arias, but it just has not worked out for him at Molineux, and it is better for both sides to cut ties.
