Wolves sources would be ‘very surprised’ if 23-year-old remained at Molineux next season

Some people at Wolves have said they would be ‘very surprised’ if one current Molineux star was still at the club for next season.

It is hoped that Wanderers can enjoy a very different summer transfer window this time around compared to last year, when several top stars were offloaded.

But it is still expected that the club will offload some players, and the feeling is that there could be one ‘big’ sale.

For many, Pedro Neto will be that player, having shone this season when he has been fit. The 23-year-old has lit up many games with his electric pace and dribbling, and there has been regular speculation about him as a result.

Lots of big clubs in England are keen, and a new report has now charged what the feeling is behind the scenes at Wolves about Neto…

Matt Hobbs suggested recently that it would be more ideal for Wolves if they could make fewer sales this summer.

This perhaps pointed to Neto being sold, and it would seem there is a feeling of his departure this summer being inevitable.

According to TEAMtalk, ‘Wolves sources have stated they would be very surprised to see Neto in their squad next season.’ They are expecting him to be sold for a large fee.

TEAMtalk do offer a figure that Wolves would be looking to sell for. Apparently, the club would be hoping to bring in at least £60 million for the former Lazio man.

The article focuses on Manchester City’s interest in the player, with the Premier League champions having apparently made contact with Neto’s agents already this season.

There is also a claim that clubs in Saudi Arabia have expressed interest in Neto. Although you would imagine this really wouldn’t be a consideration for the player.

Neto will surely go

So it’s being suggested that some people behind the scenes at Wolves do expect Neto to leave the club this summer, and it feels more likely to happen than not.

Neto is an ‘outstanding’ player and ideally, he would stay at the club longer.

But Wolves need to sell at the right time and the player’s stock is extremely high at the moment. It feels like this summer is the right time to sell, and then reinvest that money to strengthen the squad.

Neto has been in the form of his life this season when he’s been fit, and it’s difficult to imagine his market value being higher than it currently is.

For a while now he has felt like the next big sale the club will make after Ruben Neves and Matheus Nunes. If Wolves can get at least £60 million, pushing towards the £70 million mark, then that would be a great sale, considering his injury record.
