Wolves are set to miss out on another defender who could have replaced Max Kilman this summer after a Premier League side swoops in.
One of the biggest losses for Wolves this summer has been their captain Kilman. The defender departed for West Ham for £40 million leaving the club’s options at the back limited.
While Yerson Mosquera may feel like a new signing for Gary O’Neil’s side, it is not enough to reinforce the back line.
As a result, plenty of centre-halves have been linked to the Wolves over recent weeks, one being Lyon’s Jake O’Brien.
However, it looks as if Wolves are set to miss out on the defender’s signature with another Premier League side swooping in.
Potential Max Kilman replacement Jake O’Brien set to move to Everton

O’Brien has been at Lyon since 2023 after moving to the French side from Crystal Palace.
In his only season in Ligue 1, the six foot six inch centre-back scored five goals in all competitions including one in the 2-1 defeat to PSG in the Coupe de France final.
His form at the club helped Lyon secured a sixth place finish by the end of the campaign.
As a result, Wolves were believed to be in the race for his signature after it emerged that he was likely to leave this summer.
However, it now appears that another Premier League side has beaten the Old Gold in the race.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton have agreed a deal in principle for O’Brien. The defender is set for a medical on Sunday and will sign a five-year deal.
Wolves need to sort their centre-back issue quickly

Wolves have now been without Kilman for almost a month now but there appears to be no replacement on the horizon.
The backline is arguably the area that needed the most attention this summer after a disastrous end to the last campaign. However, it has only been weakened even more this window.
With the start of the upcoming campaign just around the corner, Wolves must bring in a replacement sooner rather than later.
The longer the club delays, the more likely other teams may swoop in for their targets as seen with O’Brien.
