Wolves are being linked with a move for Manchester City star Oleksandr Zinchenko – two years on from his failed moved to Molineux.

The Daily Star have claimed the Ukraine international is on Nuno Espirito Santo’s radar, despite the club having brought in two left-backs in Fernando Marcal and Rayan Ait-Nouri in the summer.

It looked as though the 23-year-old would become a Wolves player two summers ago, with a £19 million fee reportedly agreed between the two clubs.

But the proposed move apparently fell through late in the day, with Zinchenko deciding he wanted to fight for his place at the Etihad Stadium.

At the moment, £20,000-a-week star Zinchenko (Spotrac) isn’t getting too many opportunities, with Benjamin Mendy and Joao Cancelo both ahead of him in the pecking order.

The Star claim Nuno admires the star’s technical ability, and actually wanted to sign him during the last transfer window, as well as two years ago.

Zinchenko in Wolves’ midfield?

With Marcal and Ait-Nouri battling it out to play at left-back and Jonny Otto soon to return, one would imagine Nuno would want to play Zinchenko in midfield if there was some genuine interest.

He plays there for his country Ukraine, and national manager Andriy Shevchenko certainly rates him, telling VBET News in back in May: “Even in England, we have Zinchenko who plays for Manchester City. A great player who can play in different positions. A very intelligent player.”

He’s a very talented player, and could be worth looking into if the price is right.
