Wolves ‘ready to close’ next deal after Jhon Arias but there is a major stumbling block

Wolves can expect some positive movement in the transfer window after almost a month of zero activity.

After only confirming the addition of Fer Lopez through the door at Molineux, Jhon Arias will sign for Wolves once he completes his medical next week.

Arias is poised to replace Matheus Cunha in one of the number 10 positions, but it remains to be seen whether he can replicate or exceed the Brazilian’s output.

While the 27-year-old is close to arriving in Wolverhampton, Vitor Pereira has directed his frustrations at Fosun for the lack of transfer activity so far.

The Portuguese wants further quality additions to plug the gaps in his squad and create a team capable of challenging towards mid table in 2025/26.

Wolves ‘ready to close’ deal for Marc Pubill but he wants AC Milan

Right wing-back is one position being targeted by Pereira after Nelson Semedo’s contract at Wolves expired on June 30.

Reports earlier this week suggested Wolves were pushing to sign Marc Pubill from Almeria, and those claims were reaffirmed by Liam Keen.

Keen said that Wolves had held talks with Pubill ahead of a possible switch to the Premier League, but their chances of landing him were dashed on Friday.

It emerged that Pubill was moving closer to a switch to AC Milan after undergoing a medical examination in Barcelona.

But even after this update, Wolves aren’t prepared to go down without a fight, and Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Old Gold are ‘ready to close’ a deal for the 22-year-old.

Sadly, Romano also revealed that Pubill is waiting on AC Milan’s decision following a positive initial medical check, which suggests their hopes of signing the Spaniard are slowly fading away.

Losing out on Pubill isn’t the end of the world

In terms of finding a replacement for Semedo, it appears Wolves want someone young who can develop into an incredible player in the future.

That is why they were keen on landing Pubill, and while losing out on him can be seen as a blow, the Wanderers can arguably do better.

In Spain’s second division last term, the youngster only returned four assists in 36 appearances. Admittedly, defence is arguably the strongest part of his game, but that output looks relatively low.

Wolves should be looking at a player capable of producing consistency in the final third, something Pubill hasn’t shown so far.

Hopefully, Wolves can nail down another target quickly and get him through the door as time is of the essence.
