Wolves ready to blow Bruno Lage out of the water for 24-goal striker with offer that is ‘a lot higher’

Wolves know time is of the essence now to sign new players – and the club are reportedly ready to make an offer for a striker who hit 24 goals last season.

It is expected that Fabio Silva will leave Wolves with Jorge Mendes tasked with engineering his exit.

Sasa Kalajdzic could also yet move on, possibly on loan, with the Austrian looking to manage his comeback from a long-term knee injury.

Goncalo Guedes is now set to join Real Sociedad with talks advanced, so Wolves ideally need to reinforce with a new striker.

Mihailo Ivanovic is a player Wolves have been looking at, following his superb first season in the Championship with Millwall.

And now, Wolves have just been linked with another striker – and another Ivanovic.

It has been reported by Belgian publication Nieuwsblad that Wolves are now in for Union Saint-Gilloise striker Franjo Ivanovic.

Ivanovic hit 24 goals across all competitions last term, and has already been on target in 2025/26 for Union SG, scoring in the Belgian Super Cup final against Club Brugge.

Ivanovic has been the subject of interest from Benfica – managed of course by former Wolves head coach Bruno Lage – and the suggestion is that an agreement for him to move to the Portuguese giants is fairly close.

But now Wolves are in the picture.

Benfica’s basic amount (around £17 million) for Ivanovic is too low for the time being, it’s stated. Union SG are said to be holding out for at least £21.6 million, plus bonuses and a re-sale percentage.

Interestingly, Nieuwsblad say that Wolves are preparing an offer that will be ‘a lot higher’ than Benfica’s in principle.

Wolves target Franjo Ivanovic is a born goalscorer

Ivanovic hasn’t been on the scene for too long, being just 21 years old.

But the youngster looks to have a bright future – and he is someone who really knows where the goal is.

He has 21 in 47 for Union SG so far and before that, he scored a respectable 16 in 51 for HNK Rijeka over in Croatia.

And previously, Ivanovic was a hit while playing for Augsburg.

For their second team, he bagged 18 in 42, and for the U19s it was 12 in 26 and for the U17s he scored 15 in 17.

It would be a big step up for him to join Wolves, but quite possibly his proven goalscoring ability might convince Wanderers to push hard and beat Lage to secure his services.
