Wolves player’s proposed move away breaks down, he’s suffered injury and ‘will be out for months’

Wolves had a player who was all set to leave the club before the transfer deadline, but the move is now off due to a serious injury.

It is all set to be a very busy deadline day for Wolves.

The club are expected to announce the signings of Sam Johnstone and Brazilian midfielder Andre, and there could also be another central defender and a wide forward coming in.

There could also be departures.

But one man who looks like he will now be staying at Molineux now is Boubacar Traore – and sadly, it is because of that injury he picked up against Burnley.

Boubacar Traore was set for Feyenoord, but injury vs Burnley has scuppered move

It has been reportedly recently that Boubacar Traore was the subject of interest from Dutch club Feyenoord.

Feyenoord had already taken Hugo Bueno on loan.

Wolves were reported to have rejected a £12.6 million bid from Feyenoord for Traore.

Feyenoord had been hoping to still sign Traore. But now, the move is off.

Sadly, the injury that Traore suffered during Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup match against Burnley has turned out to be serious. The Mali international had to be withdrawn just before half-time, with Mario Lemina replacing him.

Traore looked gutted as he trudged off, perhaps knowing that this setback could be costly.

Journalist Martijn Krabbendam, who works for Voetbal International, has reported on X: “#Feyenoord was close to an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Boubacar #Traore, but the midfielder was injured yesterday and will be out for months. Deal is off.”

Wolves have yet to release any information regarding Traore’s injury.

A big blow for the player

If it is true that Traore is facing months on the sidelines then that is a hugely unfortunate development.

Traore was seemingly all set for a move to Feyenoord, where he would hopefully have been able to play regular football, having struggled for minutes at Molineux.

There had just been a little bit of speculation about Traore’s immediate future following news of the Andre deal.

It looks as though he will now not get the chance to get out and play, and fans will wait patiently for further news on the £9.5 million man’s condition.
