Wolves player’s chances of leaving Molineux now rated as Gary O’Neil closes in on latest transfer

Wolves are braced for an exceptionally busy end to the summer transfer window, with exits and arrivals expected.

The Old Gold will be eager to welcome several new arrivals before time runs out on Friday night, with a clear objective there for Gary O’Neil and Matt Hobbs to overcome.

Wolves bid farewell to Pedro Neto and Max Kilman this summer, with the task of replacing the duo underway.

Fans are accustomed to seeing key players leave however, will be frustrated to see that replacements have not yet been identified with just three days of the window remaining.

While a list of outsiders in O’Neil’s squad are expected to leave, an update has now been provided on one of the manager’s most-used players.

Jose Sa expected to leave Wolves in latest transfer update

One player whose future is uncertain is Jose Sa, who is currently Wolves’ firm number one between the posts.

The Portugal international arrived in 2021 to replace Rui Patricio, becoming a well-loved figure at Molineux despite his form varying.

It’s been reported that Sa’s agents are considering offers from Saudi Arabia this summer, especially after the news that Wolves are close to signing Sam Johnstone

The Crystal Palace goalkeeper is set to arrive for a fee of around £10m and has the potential to provide much needed competition to Sa, who was abysmal last time out against Chelsea.

While the understanding is that Johnstone will arrive as Wolves’ number two, things could quickly change for the England international, as per the latest update.

When reporting Johnstone’s transfer, talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook shared the news that Sa will ‘eventually’ leave Wolves.

“Likely to see Jose Sa eventually leave the club though maybe not this window,” Crook explained on X.

Whether Sa will leave this summer or in the near future remains unknown, with change between the sticks now pending at Molineux.

Sa exit is unexpected

Once hailed as “incredible” by Wolves icon Conor Coady, via Shropshire Star, Sa has earned his flowers during his time in the Midlands.

It’s not been an easy ride for 31-year-old, whose form has fluctuated over the years, with a jaded start to the 2024/25 calendar only reinforcing that.

Now seems like the right time for Wolves to consider parting ways with the Portuguese shot-stopper, with Johnstone coming in hungry to impress after falling out of favour at Palace.

If Sa does not find a new club before the summer transfer window closes, the season ahead could be thrilling to watch as a battle between the ‘keepers is set to unfold.
