Wolves player now likely to ‘leave the club’ due to ‘concerns’ raised by Vitor Pereira

Wolves could be set to lose more than just Matheus Cunha in the summer transfer window.

As the end of the 2024/25 season fast approaches, Wolves are expected to bid farewell to a number of players.

Cunha is generating significant transfer interest, with the Old Gold in a tough position due to the Brazilian’s release clause.

As well as Vitor Pereira’s star player, several others are expected to depart, including captain Nelson Semedo, who is wanted by Benfica

Tommy Doyle expected to leave Wolves in the summer

Wolves would prefer not to lose Semedo, however, the Portugal international is out of contract in the summer, as is Pablo Sarabia.

The duo look to be nearing the end of their chapters at Molineux, but they’re not the only ones, as journalist Liam Keen explained.

When discussing players with uncertain futures on The Keen & Judah Show, the Express and Star reporter shared his prediction about Tommy Doyle’s status.

“This is the one out of all of the players, other than Cunha, that I’m edging more towards will leave the club in the summer,” Keen said of Doyle.

Doyle has been linked with a transfer of late, despite only signing permanently for Wolves in 2024.

Transfer interest isn’t the reason that Keen thinks the Englishman will leave Molineux, as the Wolves expert outlined Pereira’s reservations about the midfielder.

“I understand Vitor Pereira’s concerns about his physicality, I think they are valid to some degree.

“Do I think he can play central midfield? Probably not as a starter, but do I think he could play central midfield in this Wolves team in the Premier League? I definitely do.

“Vitor Pereira doesn’t think that, and that’s where I think he’s going to fall by the wayside.”

Tommy Doyle’s minutes since Vitor Pereira arrived

Pereira has made it clear that Doyle isn’t his preferred midfielder, expressing that the former Manchester City ace doesn’t have the profile he desires.

With Joao Gomes and Andre the Wolves manager’s dream pivot, there’s no room for Doyle in the starting XI any time soon, as seen this season.

Gary O’Neil acknowledged Doyle’s lack of game time and, regrettably, the 23-year-old’s fate has not changed under Periera.

Since the Portuguese coach arrived, Doyle has played only 150 minutes in all competitions, collecting only two minutes of action since February.

The player’s quality isn’t debatable, but his suitability to Pereira’s system is, making a premature transfer exit a real possibility in the summer.
