Wolves player issues come-and-get-me plea with major compliment to interested club

Wolves could finally offload a player who’s time at Molineux has been pretty forgettable.

In 2020, Wolves splashed £35.6 million on the little-known Fabio Silva, and fans felt the club had signed the next wonderkid in football.

He simply had to be good, with Wolves playing all that money.

But it quickly became apparent that Wolves had been fleeced, and that Silva was nowhere near ready to play Premier League football regularly.

Silva struggled at Molineux, before he then started going out on loan.

So far, he’s been to Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven, Rangers and now Las Palmas with varying degrees of success.

The summer will be interesting once again for him – but the star has made some comments to suggest he wouldn’t mind joining one club in particular.

Silva has conducted a new interview regarding his time at Wolves, breaking into the Portugal national team and the future.

He’s done quite well so far on loan at Las Palmas, with the 22-year-old having scored seven goals in 18 appearances.

Recently, it was claimed that Silva’s form had alerted Atletico Madrid, with Diego Simeone apparently having been left impressed when Atleti and Las Palmas played against each other recently.

In his new interview, Silva has actually addressed that transfer link – and he was very complimentary about the club.

He said: “My focus is on Las Palmas and achieving the season’s goal, which is to stay in the division.

“The interest from Atletico is something I leave to my agent, Carlos Oliveira. But what can I say about Atletico? It’s one of the best clubs in the world and in this league. (Diego) Simeone is one of the best coaches in the world.”

Silva also suggested people forget how young he still is when they talk about his struggles at Wolves and why it hasn’t worked out for him.

Silva would surely love Atletico move

In the new interview with Silva, he makes it very clear how much of a dream it was to play in La Liga.

The youngster had watched Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid growing up, and the superstar has been a major role model for him.

He didn’t have to compliment Atletico and Simeone. He could have just stopped at the part about letting his agent handle things.

Goals – 7

But Silva is clearly keen to put his cards on the table ahead of the summer.

It should come as no surprise though, because Liam Keen recently reported that Silva is nearly 100% certain to depart Wolves this summer.

Maybe following Silva’s comments Atletico will test the waters with a bid for the Wolves striker.
