Wolves player could join his old club on loan after making just 11 Premier League starts in three seasons

Wolves have already let quite a few players go this summer – and now another could be on his way.

Wolves’ summer started in a slightly worrying fashion, with Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri both leaving the club to join the Manchester clubs.

Pablo Sarabia also left as a free agent.

There have been further outgoings in the form of Craig Dawson, Carlos Forbs, Tommy Doyle and Nasser Djiga.

So far, Fer Lopez is the only incoming, but Jhon Arias is all set to join Wolves after a breakthrough was finally reached on Wednesday night. And a few more new faces are set to follow.

But Wolves could now be about to sanction another exit, with Boubacar Traore not in Vitor Pereira’s immediate plans.

It was reported earlier this week that Wolves left Boubacar Traore out of their training camp in Portugal, as the club are looking to loan him out for the 2025/26 season.

Traore suffered a meniscus injury last term which saw him barely feature in the campaign.

Traore joined Wolves in 2022 and his three years at Molineux have not really gone as he would have hoped.

Due to injuries and competition from other players in his position, he has made just 41 appearances for the club for a total of just 1502 minutes.

He has started just 11 times in the Premier League since he completed his move from Metz.

And speaking of Metz, they are now exploring a move to re-sign Traore, according to L’Equipe.

But there is work to be done for a move to happen, because it’s stated Metz have limited means to sign Traore.

The suggestion is that they would not be able to cover Traore’s salary in full, and would need some kind of split from Wolves.

Furthermore, it is claimed other European clubs are monitoring the situation.

Metz return for Traore would be a wise move from Wolves

On paper it makes a lot of sense for Traore to go back to Metz on a loan basis.

He obviously did well there before, with his performances convincing Wolves to agree a £9.5 million option to buy clause over the player, which was later triggered.

Traore has sadly fallen by the wayside a little at Molineux and finds himself way down the pecking order at the moment.

While he’s shown signs of promise when he has played, he simply wouldn’t play much if he stuck around. Especially with Wolves potentially out to sign a new midfielder.

Pereira has admitted finding it difficult overlooking Traore, but he is not going to get regular minutes over the likes of Andre, Joao Gomes, Marshall Munetsi and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.

It remains to be seen if Wolves and Metz will be able to come to some kind of agreement over the player’s salary.

But hopefully the move will happen, and he can go there and shine like he did before and get his career back on track.
