Wolves on alert as long-term transfer target is available for just £6 million

As January approaches, transfer rumours and reports for Wolves are going to start popping up, and one signing could be made cheaper than expected.

With Rob Edwards coming in, the board have already made quite a few promises ahead of the transfer window.

The new Wolves head coach has been told none of the Old Gold’s star players will be sold in January, and if survival looks in reach, that is a huge boost.

Which position do Wolves need to prioritise in January?

Additionally, Wolves will use their recruitment team more in order to identify signings, and that should help the club to find better-suited players.

However, they could also go back in for long-term target Christos Mandas, who they bid for in the summer, as his price has dropped even further.

Christos Mandas could be signed for as little as £6 million

Wolves have been following Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas for quite some time. The Old Gold were interested in him in 2024 under Gary O’Neil, and then that interest was revived over the summer.

Wolves sent in a £17 million bid for the Greek goalkeeper, but Lazio rejected the deal due to the transfer ban they had at the time.

The links continue to hang around, and it seems that the Wanderers are still looking to sign him.

It was reported in September that Lazio are now open to selling Mandas, and that could allow Wolves to come back in. The £17 million price tag had then dropped to just £10 million, but now reports say it could be even lower than that.

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, offers as low as €7-8 million (£6-7 million) are now likely for the Lazio player.

If Wolves had valued the Lazio player at nearly three times that value in the summer, they surely must be tempted to try again for him.

🚨Wolves have to sell Jose Sá to sign Christos Mandas. They have no non-homegrown slots left, whilst Sam Johnstone and Dan Bentley are both homegrown.

Signing Christos Mandas at that price is risk-free

At that £6-7 million price range, Wolves would not be taking much of a risk, and it would seem silly for the club not to go back in for him.

It was just four months ago they felt he was worth more than that, and after that time, even without playing, he is still the same talented shot-stopper they believe he is.

Signing a goalkeeper is not the biggest priority for the club, but when a deal like that is floating around, the Wanderers should go for it.

It is not often good value in the transfer market comes about.
