Wolves offered the chance to sign £75,000-a-week Champions League winner

Wolves probably weren’t anticipating a busy January transfer window, but in football, as we all know, things rarely go to plan.

Mario Lemina could make a surprise transfer this month after the midfielder emerged as a top target for Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab.

The former Crystal Palace man’s proposed move to the Middle East is developing quickly, forcing Vitor Pereira to identify targets of his own. Flamengo’s Gerson is one player linked with replacing Lemina at Molineux.

However, while Lemina’s proposed exit continues to be discussed, one player’s representative has reportedly offered the Old Gold the chance to sign his client.

Hakim Ziyech offered to Wolves

Having fallen down the pecking order at Galatasaray following a disappointing first half of the season, Hakim Ziyech is looking for a way out of Turkey.

The former Chelsea winger joined the Lions permanently on a free transfer last summer after spending the season before on loan. However, despite arriving at the Rams Park Stadium with a high profile following his stint in the Premier League, Ziyech has struggled to live up to expectations.

Failing to score this season, the 31-year-old, who has just six months left on his contract, has lost his place and, according to Turkish journalist Kaya Temel, is now training alone.

Consequently, the wide-forward’s agent is looking to find him a new club and has approached Wolves in the hope they will offer him the chance to return to England’s top-flight.

Vitor Pereira to make Ziyech transfer decision soon

While a new winger may not have been Pereira’s priority heading into this window, the chance to sign a player of Ziyech’s calibre doesn’t come around often.

The Moroccan has a Champions League winner’s medal after he lifted the prestigious European title with Chelsea in 2021, and although he isn’t at the level he was a few years ago, many would argue his experience would be invaluable to any club looking to take the next step.

Interestingly, reaching a financial agreement could be possible due to Ziyech earning £75,000-a-week at Galatasaray. The player’s wage demands would likely fit into Wolves’ salary structure, and put him among the likes of Hee-Chan Hwang and Nelson Semedo, as per Capology.

Wolves’ response to the transfer proposal is expected soon.
