After completing the signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen from Celta Vigo, Wolves could land another striker for free.
It’s been an impressive opening to the transfer window for Wolves, who have got their business done early. Tommy Doyle, Pedro Lima, Rodrigo Gomes and Jorgen Strand Larsen have all arrived at Molineux as Gary O’Neil fleshes out a depleted squad from last term.
The Old Gold are also set for their first major summer sale, with captain Max Kilman completing a medical ahead of a £40 million move to West Ham.
That means the transfers Wolves have made so far have essentially cost nothing and selling the 27-year-old for that price is classed as solid business, especially when they’ve lined up four potential replacements.
O’Neil may have brought four players in but the Wanderers boss isn’t done there as links to a free-agent striker have surfaced.
Wolves want to sign free agent Kelechi Iheanacho
According to GIVEMESPORT, Wolves are in possible discussions with free-agent striker Kelechi Iheanacho, who was released from his contract with Leicester City on July 1.
The Wanderers are reportedly in a battle with Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham over the Nigerian’s signature as O’Neil seeks to add cover for the likes of Matheus Cunha and Strand Larsen without paying a transfer fee.

Iheanacho saw his game time restricted last term due to injury and falling down the pecking order under Enzo Maresca, although the 27-year-old still bagged six goals as Leicester wrapped up the Championship title.
A move for the former Manchester City striker for free could be a shrewd piece of business for O’Neil, who is looking to add depth in every position this summer.
Kelechi Iheanacho would be a solid back-up striker for Wolves
Iheanacho lost his way at Leicester towards the end of his Foxes career, scoring a combined 10 goals in his previous two campaigns.
O’Neil has shown, though, that he’s great at picking up players short on confidence and returning them to their very best, doing so with Rayan Ait-Nouri, Cunha and Joao Gomes.
The 41-year-old could work similar miracles with Iheanacho, a striker who is highly rated by former manager Pep Guardiola.
Speaking in 2021, the man who managed him at Man City said: “Incredible. The quality was there, he was a young player here and I believe in that moment with Gabriel and Sergio we didn’t have much space. He is a fantastic person, we had a good relationship, and I’m delighted it’s going well lately.
“He’s playing for the injured Maddison and he links really well with the midfield and he’s good in behind, he’s fast and in the final third he has the right tempo, he is so clear in front of the goal.”
Whilst Strand Larsen arrives in Wolverhampton with no Premier League experience, Iheanacho boasts plenty, as during his time at Man City and Leicester he amassed 196 top-flight appearances, scoring 42 goals.
For a talented striker, renowned for his deadly finishing, that isn’t the greatest record. But on a free transfer, Wolves can do worse than snapping up Iheanacho.
