Wolves now very close to missing out on 17-goal target once and for all

Fabrizio Romano has dropped a transfer update this afternoon and it looks as though Wolves are now highly likely to miss out on one of their long-term targets.

Gary O’Neil has brought in three new faces so far this summer, and also turned Tommy Doyle’s loan move permanent.

It has been a very positive couple of months, but fans are hoping that more deals will be done in the coming weeks.

Jorgen Strand Larsen joined Wolves a few weeks ago from Celta Vigo. He was signed on an initial loan basis, but the move will be turned permanent once the player has made a certain number of appearances.

Fans are curious whether another striker will be coming in, given Fabio Silva will likely leave and that Sasa Kalajdzic is out of action until later this year.

One man who has long been linked is Che Adams – but Fabrizio Romano’s latest update suggests Wolves will not be getting him.

Wolves tried to sign Che Adams last summer, but Southampton blocked the move at the eleventh hour.

Apparently, Wanderers bid as much as £18 million for the Scotland international.

There was some more interest from Wolves in January of this year, but Southampton were not going to let him leave while they were pushing for promotion.

This summer, there’s been more speculation about Adams, even after Wolves signed Strand Larsen.

But the free-agent, who scored 17 goals last term, appears to have decided his next club – and it isn’t Wanderers. Torino’s interest was reported recently, and now there has been an update.

Fabrizio Romano wrote on X: “Torino are closing in on deal to sign Che Adams as free agent, talks at final stages now. Che Adams has approved project presented by Torino and final details are being sorted.

“He’s set for first experience in Serie A, as @iljackmora has reported.”

Adams had also been a target for Nottingham Forest, and was also apparently offered a lucrative contract to play in Saudi Arabia.

Adams would have been nice cover to have

This feels like a fairly definitive update, and it looks like Wolves are going to miss out on Adams once and for all.

It is a slight shame as obviously he is a free-agent and O’Neil could have brought in more cover. Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan both had great seasons last term, but they are not out-and-out strikers.

We will see if Wolves have a look at other options.

But Adams being available on a free, yet moving to Torino, might just be a bit of a frustration for O’Neil.
