Wolves now told asking price of ‘fantastic’ target once compared to Thierry Henry

Wolves are gearing up for a busy summer of transfer business at Molineux and Gary O’Neil has been told the asking price of a long-term target.

Wolves will be desperate to welcome some new faces to Molineux this summer, as Gary O’Neil looks to stamp his authority on a squad he inherited from Julen Lopetegui last year.

The Wanderers endured an incredibly difficult summer of 2023 as Fosun was forced into selling some of their star talents while spending restrictions meant they couldn’t be replaced.

Having impressively dealt with those financial constraints and utilised a thin squad this season, O’Neil deserves to be backed in the transfer window.

The Old Gold need to fix their striker issue and have recently been linked to talented forward Mohammed Amoura from Union Saint Golloise. He isn’t the only long-term target on their radar, with one Arsenal striker potentially available.

Wolves told the asking price of Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah

Arsenal are looking to offload academy graduate Eddie Nketiah this summer and Wolves – along with several other Premier League clubs – have been linked to the English talisman.

It’s well-documented that O’Neil is looking for a lethal finisher to spearhead their forward line, with the asking price of Nketiah now revealed.

According to 90min, the 24-year-old could be available for between £30m – £35m this summer while the report claims Crystal Palace and Wolves are showing the most interest.

Lauded as “fantastic” by Ian Wright, Nketiah has been a regular part of Mikel Arteta’s squad this season, amassing 37 appearances in all competitions, but he has never been a consistent starter with Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz moving above him in the pecking order.

As a result, the lethal finisher – who is contracted at the Emirates till 2027 – could move on from North London and Wolves would be foolish not to snap him up.

Eddie Nketiah has been compared to Thierry Henry

When Nketiah netted a hat-trick against Sheffield United in October, former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp claimed ‘it was like watching Thierry Henry’.

Although he is nowhere near as talented as the Frenchman, who bagged 228 goals in 377 appearances for the Gunners, the Arsenal legend did describe the Englishman as “lethal”.

Nketiah backs that point by boasting the third-highest minutes-per-goal ratio in Arteta’s squad (233 minutes), behind only Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka.

And although he’s rarely given opportunities to impress, when he does take to the pitch, the Hale End academy graduate is calmness personified in front of goal.

It’s such a trait that O’Neil craves at the tip of his forward line and landing him this summer could see Nketiah become the latest goalscoring hero at Molineux.
