Wolves now set to keep ‘outstanding’ £50k-a-week star despite recent interest

Wolves are set to keep hold of Max Kilman this month, with the club under no pressure to sell the captain, amid interest from West Ham United.

Wolves have already let two players go this month, with strikers Sasa Kalajdzic and Fabio Silva both leaving on loan.

Kalajdzic has returned to the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt, while Silva has joined up with Rangers.

Neither were getting regular minutes under Gary O’Neil, and will hope to enjoy a better second half of the season at their respective loan clubs.

Max Kilman is another player who had been linked with an exit from the club, but unsurprisingly, there are now claims that the defender will not be departing this month…

Kilman has already been linked with a move to West Ham United this month.

Apparently, the club are seeking to move for the 26-year-old if Nayef Aguerd, who has interest from Saudi Arabia, leaves.

Kilman has long been admired by David Moyes and the Hammers have been linked with a £40 million move.

The narrative has been that Wolves still have a precarious financial position at the moment, despite selling over £100 million worth of players in the summer.

Kilman is one of Wolves’ biggest assets, hence the exit links surrounding him.

But the Daily Mail have reported today that Wolves are under no pressure to sell the £50,000-a-week star. Since there’s no pressure to sell, then Kilman will undoubtedly be staying put at Molineux this month, as a key player for the team.

He is the captain, and has played every single minute in the Premier League so far.

Kilman never likely to leave

This is positive news for Wolves fans, although many will not have feared too much about Kilman leaving this month.

It would have been absolute madness to offload him mid-season, and to a team that are only a few points above Wolves in the table.

Kilman is a superb defender, and someone former captain Conor Coady once branded ‘outstanding’. Over the past couple of years, Wolves fans have watched him go from fringe player to crucial first-teamer, and he has all the attributes to become a top Premier League defender.

Kilman hasn’t even come into his peak years yet, so it would be ludicrous to get rid of him before that happens.

But as expected, it seems like that will not happen any time soon.
