Wolves now in talks to sign £13m Spaniard amid continued uncertainty over Nelson Semedo

Wolves fans are still waiting to see what will happen with Nelson Semedo.

The wing-back is now a free agent after running down his contract at Molineux, but still has a four-year offer on the table from Wolves.

But Wolves feel Semedo may be unlikely to sign now, and believe he is more likely to join a club overseas.

It has been suggested that Wolves could sign a replacement for Semedo.

Jeremy Toljan is on Wolves’ radar, and there have also been claims that Hellas Verona’s Jackson Tchatchoua is of interest to Wolves.

But now, there has been a link to another potential replacement.

It has been claimed by Marca that Wolves are in talks to sign Almeria right-back Marc Pubill.

They say that the player’s entourage have confirmed that talks are on with Wolves and also AC Milan. Both clubs are also said to have made offers, but the outlet doesn’t disclose a figure.

The Spain U21 international was said to have been ‘seduced’ by the idea of playing in European competition next season. But neither Wolves nor Milan can offer European football.

It is claimed La Liga 2 outfit Almeria value the player at around £13 million. His former club Levante hold a 20% sell-on clause on the player.

It’s stated Pubill – who stands quite tall for a right-back at 6ft 3in – is due to return to Almeria next week for pre-season training, although due to his involvement at the European Championships he may return slightly later.

Semedo surely isn’t signing Wolves’ contract offer

That Wolves have reportedly now entered talks with Almeria over Pubill strongly suggests Semedo will not be signing that four-year contract extension.

The 31-year-old has still not communicated his decision, and Wolves simply cannot wait around.

Obviously, they do not want to lose him, given his quality, consistency and leadership skills.

But at the same time, pre-season is now starting, and Wolves need to get their squad in the best place it can possibly be.

This uncertainty is not helping, and some have called for Wolves to rescind their contract offer to Semedo and crack on with signing a replacement.
