Wolves face missing out on one of their centre-back targets, with his club offering him a new contract.
Wanderers are seeking to sign a replacement for Max Kilman, after the captain was sold to West Ham United last week.
The 27-year-old left Molineux after weeks of speculation, with the Hammers paying £40 million. That was £5 million less than the original asking price.
Kilman was a great player for Wolves and always someone who was available.
But there is no question Wolves did great business with his sale, because it is almost pure profit after he was signed for just £40,000.
The search is now on for a replacement. David Carmo of FC Porto is thought to be someone on the club’s radar.
Thomas Beelen was also recently linked with a move to Molineux, but a new report has suggested this particular move could soon be dead in the water.
Thomas Beelen set to sign new contract at Feyenoord, amid Wolves interest

It has been claimed by 1908.nl, the publication which first reported Wolves’ interest in the player, that Beelen is now on track to sign a new contract with the Dutch club.
The suggestion is that Beelen – who was thought to be worth around £17 million – has given the green light to pen fresh terms.
His current deal runs out in the summer of 2027 but ‘that will soon change’, 1908.nl say.
Their report does mention Wolves and how they made an approach for the defender. But there is no word of any kind of bid having gone in for the player.
In the comments section at the bottom of the article, there are lots of positive reactions from Feyenoord fans, suggesting they really do not want him leaving this summer.
Beelen only signed for Feyenoord last summer from PEC Zwolle and initially began the 2023/24 as a substitute. But he fought his way into the side and made a real impression under now-Liverpool manager Arne Slot.
He went on to make 26 appearances across all competitions.
Wolves may need to look at alternatives

It very much sounds as though Beelen is on the verge of agreeing a new deal at Feyenoord and if he does sign, then that will mean he is practically certain to stay at the club this summer.
He looks like a really promising player, and has previously been suggested as ‘a monster’ by his former teammate Bram van Polen. It would be a boost for Feyenoord to keep hold of him.
But there are other players out there who could also make for great replacements for Kilman. Porto defender Carmo has a similar build to Kilman and is also left-footed which could make him the most ideal signing.
There is plenty of time left in the window, and Wolves fans will back sporting director Matt Hobbs to land the right player for Gary O’Neil.
It has been a really promising start to the summer so far in the transfer market, and Hobbs will surely have done his due diligence on everyone the club are considering bringing in.
