According to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, the club have now officially asked QPR if they can speak to the 42-year-old.

The club might have acted last night, but QPR were in Championship action against Cardiff City.

Beale oversaw a 3-0 win at Loftus Road, a result that has taken the club to the top of the table.

Following the game, Beale admitted that it would be a big 24 hours or so for him and the club, perhaps knowing Wolves would be coming knocking.

That’s despite turning his phone off at 3pm yesterday to avoid all the speculation.

Wolves will now attempt to convince Beale to take the reins at Molineux.

It is a huge job, with the team seriously struggling in the final third and lacking fight and belief.

Beale must determine whether the job is right for him at this point in his career.

He has only been in position at Loftus Road for five months. Prior to this role, he had only been an assistant and youth coach.

He is currently flying with QPR and loving the project there.

But Wolves are a Premier League club, and Beale may feel as though his stock may never be higher.

He is on record as saying he’s left jobs before that he didn’t necessarily want to, but had to to further his career.

Wolves must try and move quickly on Michael Beale, with Leicester looming

It is good to hear that Wolves have now requested permission to speak to Beale.

Ideally, the club needs to bring him in as soon as possible.

There is a huge game looming this weekend against Leicester City, and it just feels as though having a new permanent head coach in place will be a big boost for the players after the defeat to Crystal Palace.

Hopefully, Wolves are able to sell the project to him and a deal can be concluded as quickly as possible.
