Wolves’ new signing Jackson Tchatchoua was the best in the Serie A in one exciting statistic last season

Finally, Wolves’ quest for a right-back has officially come to an end with the announcement of Jackson Tchatchoua’s arrival from Hellas Verona.

The task of replacing Nelson Semedo dominated Wolves transfer discourse this summer.

Semedo left on a free to Fenerbahce earlier in the window, leaving the position without a nailed-on starter.

After lengthy negotiations for Jackson Tchatchoua, the 23-year-old has been officially announced as a Wolves player.

New Wolves signing Jackson Tchatchoua was the fastest player in Serie A last season

Wolves relied heavily on wing-backs for attacking output last season. In particular, Rayan Ait-Nouri’s role was geared heavily towards forward play, and Vitor Pereira will hope their newest addition can assume similar responsibilities.

Tchatchoua recorded a top speed of 36.3km/h last season, the fastest in Italy’s top flight.

This stat is sure to excite Wolves fans, who want to see more explosiveness in attack. While he may not have Ait-Nouri’s technical ability, at just 23, there’s plenty of time for him to develop into a serious threat going forward.

Tchatchoua can play on either flank and will surely be challenging for a starting berth from the off.

Following his official announcement, Wolves’ official website released an interview with Tchatchoua, where he shares his initial thoughts on the move to Molineux.

He says: “I feel good. I feel happy to be here and I’m excited. I spoke a little bit with the coach, but I’ll speak more.

“The Premier League is one of my dreams and it’s one step that I want to do in my life, and also the history of the club, the stadium, the fans, this convinced me.”

As for when we might see him in action?

With still four days to go until Wolves play Bournemouth in an important match for both sides to get their first points on the table, Tchatchoua could make his debut this weekend.
