Wolves name Jorgen Strand Larsen’s asking price as Newcastle United’s pursuit continues

Jorgen Strand Larsen is the latest Wolves player linked with a move out of Molineux, with supporters hoping they can hold onto their talisman.

Newcastle United registered an interest in Strand Larsen last week as a possible replacement for Alexander Isak, the Swedish goal machine who wants to join Liverpool.

Strand Larsen is seen as a ‘dark horse’ for Newcastle in their hunt for Isak’s successor, with the 25-year-old fresh from scoring 14 Premier League goals last term.

Crucially, Wolves are under no pressure to sell their star striker after pocketing almost £100 million alone from the sales of Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha in June.

Their stance on offloading the towering centre-forward is therefore reflected in the asking price they’ve placed on him.

Wolves place £65 million price tag on Jorgen Strand Larsen

Wolves know the value in a striker capable of scoring goals in the Premier League, knowing they’re hard to come by.

That is why a £62.5 million release clause was placed in Matheus Cunha’s contract in February, which was triggered by Manchester United this summer.

Encouragingly, Norwegian journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft has confirmed that Wolves want £65m for Strand Larsen, and that has been deemed ‘too high’ for Newcastle.

In this current market, the former Celta Vigo striker isn’t worth that amount, but the valuation set is reflected by how desperate they are to keep him.

They know that selling their main source of quality in the final third could result in them being relegated, especially if an adequate replacement isn’t found.

Wolves hint at Strand Larsen staying at Molineux

Wolves fans are excited about seeing their Norwegian powerhouse in action next term and are interested to see how he plays alongside the likes of Jhon Arias and Fer Lopez.

There will be a sense of relief that Fosun are holding out for £65m for Strand Larsen, which suggests he’s likely to stay at Molineux.

Indeed, another hint surrounding his future was also dropped on Thursday, as Graeme Bailey confirmed to Molineux News that Strand Larsen played a part in David Moller Wolfe’s pending switch to Wolves.

After the Wanderers agreed a £10 million transfer with AZ Alkmaar for the left-back, Bailey said: “Sources suggest that Moller Wolfe has been talked up by his international team-mate Jorgen Strand-Larsen.”

With Strand Larsen praising Wolfe’s talent, having watched him for Norway, surely that points to him staying next season, and that means him getting on the end of his dangerous crosses.
