Wolves name asking price for Arsenal target with the interest seen as ‘hostile’ bid

Arsenal are once again on the hunt for another Wolves star, with the two clubs reportedly ‘well apart’ on their valuation for the player.

The summer window is well underway with Gary O’Neil looking to make the necessary upgrades to his Wolves squad

The Old Gold have been very active in the market so far. Rodrigo Gomes, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Pedro Lima have all joined the Molineux side over the past month.

On the weekend, it was also confirmed that club captain Max Kilman had departed for West Ham for £40 million

Now, O’Neil could be set to lose another member of his squad with Arsenal pursuing his signature.

Over the weekend, Arsenal were linked with a surprise move to goalkeeper Dan Bentley. The Englishman signed for Wolves in January 2023 and became a backup to number one Jose Sa

Since joining the club, Bentley has been largely inconsistent across his seven appearances in all competitions for Wolves.

However, the Gunners now view the Englishman as a potential back-up to David Raya who has just joined Arsenal on a permanent basis.

According to ReluctantNicko, Wolves value the ‘keeper at £1 million and see the interest as a ‘hostile’ bid.

Arsenal are hoping to secure Bentley for a lot less but both clubs are working on the move and may be prepared to meet in the middle.

Wolves should let Dan Bentley depart

While Bentley has had some good games in an Old Gold shirt, Wolves should let him depart to Arsenal.

The 30-year-old isn’t getting any younger and has struggled to challenge Sa for the number one spot in his first season-and-a-half.

Bentley will also likely want to go to Arsenal as it could be the last opportunity he has to make a big move before the end of his career.

Therefore, if Wolves could get £1 million or just under for the Englishman, it could be good business for everyone involved.

This could also allow O’Neil the opportunity to find a new young ‘keeper who could challenge Sa for a spot in the starting XI on a more regular basis.
