Wolves must do one thing to beat two Premier League rivals to ‘clinical’ Gary O’Neil target

Wolves have now been informed of what they must do in order to beat two other clubs to one rumoured transfer target.

Gary O’Neil has got to work early in the summer transfer window, with the first signing set to be announced soon.

Wolves have scheduled a medical for Rodrigo Gomes this week, who is poised to make a £12.7m move from Braga.

While the club will be joyed to have secured the 20-year-old’s signature, other targets may be less easy to acquire, as O’Neil has now learned.

What Wolves must do to beat Everton and Southampton to Armando Broja

Wolves have been linked to Armando Broja since the January transfer window when the Old Gold were beaten to his signature by Fulham.

Lauded as ‘clinical’ by Alan Shearer, via Premier League, the Albanian will almost certainly leave Chelsea this summer after his loan at Craven Cottage, as the Blues look to ease their PSR concerns.

It’s understood that Chelsea could ask for a price in the region of £30m for the striker, with it now made clear what Wolves must do to finally sign him.

Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas explained that Wolves, Everton and Southampton ‘retain interest’ in the 22-year-old but there is a problem.

It’s claimed that none of the clubs can afford him at present, adding that a player would have to be sold for interest to proceed.

Wolves are aware of what is needed to make significant moves in the transfer window, given the struggles that the club endured last summer as many talents were offloaded.

A similar scenario is possible if the Midlands side are to push for Broja, with the objective now clear if they are to beat Saints and Everton to his signature.

Who could Wolves sell this summer to sign Broja?

In the build-up to the transfer window, Wolves’ most valuable asset is Pedro Neto, whom the club have made their stance clear on.

It’s believed that the Old Gold are willing to part ways with the winger for nothing less than their £60m asking price, which is the most likely path of generating funds.

Club captain Max Kilman is another player whose future has been speculated, as the defender has received interest from Manchester United and West Ham.

The Englishman has however expressed his happiness at being at Molineux, suggesting that he could remain in the Midlands beyond the summer.

Another source of income could be the sale of Nelson Semedo, who is entering a ‘delicate situation’ due to his contract expiring in 2025.

Wolves will either sell the Portugal international or extend his contract, with a sale more likely given that the defender is 30 years old.

All of the deals could generate the profit Wolves would need in order to sign Broja although, questions would be asked as to whether £30m could be better spent elsewhere.
