Wolves’ pursuit of one long-term target has now stalled for one reason that will be a concern for Gary O’Neil.
As the summer transfer window fast approaches, Wolves have already completed their first signing.
The Midlands club were beaten to their announcement of Rodrigo Gomes by Braga’s president, with the 20-year-old’s move to Molineux now confirmed.
While O’Neil will be thrilled to have secured the youngster’s signature amid interest from Atletico Madrid, the manager will continue his hunt for further additions.
The capture of Gomes was successful although now, Wolves could face a challenge in an attempt to sign one long-term target.

Wolves talks with Salernitana over Boulaye Dia transfer have now stalled
Last summer, Wolves made a deadline day swoop for Serie A talisman Boulaye Dia, an offer that was rejected by Salernitana.
The forward’s situation has changed dramatically since Wolves’ swoop, with him falling out with his club, seeing him miss the end of the season and now heading towards a certain exit this summer.
Wolves were linked with the striker once more however, reports in Italy now claim that the talks have stalled.
La Gazzetta Dello Sport state that while Dia is available this summer, talks with Wolves are ‘at a standstill’ due to the Midlands club not offering enough money.
Salernitana have agreed a deal with Lazio for the 27-year-old however, the forward has rejected the proposal due to his desire to play in the Premier League.
Due to Wolves ‘offering little’, Dia’s future is described as being ‘stuck in limbo’.
Rumours of Dia talks stalling are concerning for Wolves
Lauded as ‘incredible’ for his form in Italy over the 2022/23 campaign, where he netted 16 Serie A goals, Wolves must not hesitate at the chance to sign Dia this summer.
Said to be available for just £10m, the Old Gold must take advantage of the striker’s situation ahead of the window, with other clubs ready to pounce on his talent.
The issue of not offering enough money is a haunting memory for those at Wolves, who last year saw the club miss out on Viktor Gyokeres, a striker who went on to score 43 goals over 2023/24.
In the instance of Dia, reports in Italy suggest that Wolves have a player who wants to join the club, with the only stumbling block being the transfer fee, which at £10m is a concern.
