Wolves make contact to sign £7m Brazilian gem, but face transfer competition from Everton

Wolves completed their first signing of the summer on Friday – and the club are now looking to make more moves.

Fer Lopez was announced as a new signing for Wolves a couple of days ago, with the club raiding Celta Vigo for the second summer in a row.

Wolves have signed Lopez for £19.5 million, and the transfer deal has seen him become the club’s ninth most expensive signing ever.

Fans will now hope that Wolves keep their foot on the gas.

People really want to see some household names, because the exits of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri could really sting.

But everyone knows how Wolves operate these days, and the signing of younger players for modest fees is a big part of the recruitment policy.

And now, Wolves have their eyes on the Brazilian market once again.

Wolves and Everton interested in Lucas Ferreira

It has been reported by Jorge Nicola that Wolves are showing interest in talented Sao Paulo winger Lucas Ferreira.

The claim comes shortly after Wolves were linked with another teenage winger, Jesus Rodriguez.

But Wolves aren’t the only side keen on Ferreira, with Everton also in the mix.

Wolves may now around how much they will need to offer to sign Ferreira. Recently, Russian side FC Krasnodar made an offer of just under £7 million. That bid was rejected, so it should take at least a little bit more than that.

Speaking about the Brazilian gem, journalist Nicola said on his YouTube channel: “Those that have shown the greatest interest in signing the player are Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton.

“Neither of them has made an official offer to São Paulo. Lucas Ferreira’s representatives were consulted to understand how much it would cost, how much Lucas Ferreira would like to earn, and what the terms of the deal are.

“São Paulo has given preference to selling other athletes over Lucas Ferreira, all so that the winger can remain at São Paulo. The Tricolor is convinced that Lucas Ferreira has a lot of potential to increase in value.”

Wolves must target proven players

Ferreira seems like another exciting young player with big potential.

But while fans are likely to back this move, many will also be clamouring to see some ready-made players come in.

It was recently claimed ‘the penny has dropped’ for Wolves officials, and that there was an understanding that more money needed to be spent to better prepare the squad.

It will be essential for Wolves to sign some players this summer that are proven in top leagues.

Failure to do so could very well see what Wanderers regress under Vitor Pereira, rather than kick on.
