Sasa Kalajdzic’s loan move came as no surprise, but many have questioned the destination.
In the final bit of business for Wolves this transfer window, the club reached an agreement with Austrian side LASK to take the 6’7″ striker on loan for the season.
Sasa Kalajdzic hasn’t managed to break into the first team after over 500 days sidelined with injuries, and a move away was considered the best option for all parties.
The deal was agreed with Wolves covering most of the salary. But some were questioning why the Austrian side was the preferred destination.
Sasa Kalajdzic explains his choice to go to LASK
Kalajdzic has spoken to the media for the first time since leaving Molineux, and he has shared why LASK was the right choice for him.
“I’m very happy to be here. This was the best solution for everyone involved,” says the Austrian. “I just want to enjoy football, stay fit, get as many minutes as possible and play consistently at a good level. LASK can offer me that.”
Kalajdzic has the World Cup on his mind, and realises he won’t be able to break back into the national team if he’s not playing.

He will be a star at LASK, involved in everything they do going forward. The appeal of the move is becoming clear.
In addition, he says: “We have a good team and a good environment. I already know some of the players from earlier, and I’ve only heard good things.”
LASK are ecstatic about loan agreement for Sasa Kalajdzic
While the injuries that have plagued Kalajdzic for years may be all his Wolves career is remembered for, there was a time when he was putting up 22 goals for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
LASK’s CFO and Sporting director have both issued statements about the deal that highlight just how big a move this is for the Austrian club. The article on the official LASK website is quite literally titled ‘Transfer Coup’.
CFO Mergim Bresilla believes he can be one of the best in the league, remarking: “This transfer is something very special for us and represents a win-win situation for everyone involved. With Sasa Kalajdzic, we are getting one of the best Austrian strikers.”
The club’s sporting director is equally thrilled, saying: “He is an absolute exceptional player and an asset to the entire Austrian Bundesliga.
“With his goalscoring instinct, physical presence, aerial strength and technical qualities, he brings many important components to the team.”
Hopefully, Sasa can hit the ground running at his new club and earn his place in the national team for next summer.
