Wolves likely to consider offloading player who only joined 16 months ago

Wolves are reportedly now ‘likely’ to consider offloading striker Sasa Kalajdzic in the January transfer window.

The Austria international has struggled for minutes this season under Gary O’Neil, who has shown unwavering faith in Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan in attack.

Kalajdzic was building his fitness in the opening weeks of the season, following the ACL injury he suffered last term.

But he’s been fit for weeks now, and O’Neil has barely played the £35,000-a-week star – and some Wolves fans have started to wonder if he is in the manager’s plans. Kalajdzic himself is probably wondering the same thing.

Well now, a report has suggested he is not…

Tonight, The Telegraph have reported that Kalajdzic is one of three first-team players who could be moved on next month.

The other two are Fabio Silva and Jonny Castro Otto, who was recently banished from the first-team after a training ground incident.

Silva and Jonny have been expected to depart for a few weeks now, but the mention of Kalajdzic comes as a slight surprise.

He’s only been with Wolves for just shy of 16 months and obviously, he has spent a large chunk of that period on the sidelines recovering from his ACL injury.

Seemingly though, O’Neil just doesn’t really rate the 26-year-old. His lack of minutes across Wolves’ last four Premier League games has felt significant – and he is probably wondering what he has to do to get a proper chance.

It would be a shame to see Kalajdzic leave

Without doubt, it would be a real shame if Kalajdzic was sold next month, but at this point, it’s probably something fans should prepare for.

O’Neil has not been turning to him, despite his team needing goals in recent games.

He has been through a lot with his knee injury and it would just be sad to see him go because he doesn’t fit with how the manager wants to play.

He’s worked very hard to come back and from all the media Wolves have put out since he signed, you can tell he is an extremely nice person.

But football is ruthless. If O’Neil doesn’t see a place for him, then Wolves fans will just have to accept the decision and bid Kalajdzic farewell.
