Wolves are reportedly in pole position to sign a defender who was relegated from the Premier League in 2023/24 to replace Max Kilman.
Wolves have made a positive start to the summer in the transfer window, but Kilman became the first big sale, as he joined West Ham United for £40 million.
It was inevitable that Wanderers would make at least one big sale this summer, and it is possible there could be another after Kilman. Pedro Neto and Rayan Ait-Nouri have both been linked with moves away.
Several names have been linked with Wolves regarding potential Kilman replacements.
Recently it was claimed links to David Carmo had the most substance. But he has apparently decided to stay at FC Porto to fight for his place.
So now, Wolves have apparently set their sights on a player who was relegated last season.
Wolves in pole position to sign Anel Ahmedhodzic

It has been reported by The Sun (14/07, p. 59) this morning that Wolves are in pole position to sign Anel Ahmedhodzic, who suffered relegation with Sheffield United in 2023/24.
The Bosnian is said to be keen to get back into the top-flight, and his sale would allow the Blades to do a bit of rebuilding ahead of the new season.
United are said to be looking for around £20 million.
Ahmedhodzic – Bosnia international who was actually born in Sweden – moved to Bramall Lane in the summer of 2022 from Malmo.
To date he has clocked up 72 appearances for the club.
Ahmedhodzic might actually be a good addition
Sheffield United were terrible last season in the Premier League and finished their campaign with the unwanted record of most goals ever conceded in a single season (104).
But Ahmedhodzic actually did catch the eye despite a poor showing collectively.
Ahmedhodzic is an imposing 6ft 4in tall, making him the same height as Kilman. He is also a pretty good ball-player like the Englishman.
According to a feature from Total Football Analysis a few years ago, Ahmedhodzic’s ‘ball progression is perfect for a possession-based system’. He was said to have been ‘incredible’ for Malmo in their 2019/20 title-winning season in terms of his ball progression.
He also had ‘superb’ long passing and is very adept at spraying long balls out to wide players.
£20 million would be a lot of money to pay for a player who has ultimately just been relegated. But perhaps Wolves will consider a swoop nonetheless.
