Wolves keeping tabs on Ivorian striker who scored 18 goals last season

Wolves are said to be keeping tabs on a striker from the Ivory Coast who scored 18 goals last season.

Wolves have already signed two attacking players so far this summer.

After bringing in Rodrigo Gomes first, the club then swooped for Jorgen Strand Larsen, who is expected to lead the line in 2024/25.

Wolves have been crying out for a proper number nine for a while, and there is optimism that Strand Larsen will prove to be a real hit in the Premier League, with support around him from the likes of Hwang Hee-chan, Matheus Cunha, Pedro Neto and fellow newbie Rodrigo.

Wolves have gone quiet in the window over the past few weeks.

But things are still happening behind the scenes, and it has been claimed today that Wolves have an interest in Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath.

Currently, Jorgen Strand Larsen is the only out-and-out striker available to Gary O’Neil.

Sasa Kalajdzic will be out injured until later this year after suffering the third ACL injury of his playing career in January.

Fabio Silva is expected to depart in the coming weeks.

Cunha and Hwang have both shown they can do a job up front, but the duo are more effective in other positions.

So potentially there is scope for Wolves bringing in another body, and Tuttomercatoweb have claimed there is interest in Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath.

Latte Lath joined Boro last summer, after leaving Italian club Atalanta after a string of loan moves.

Last term the two-cap Ivory Coast international hit 18 goals across all competitions – 16 in the Championship and a further two in the EFL Cup.

He could have finished with more to his name, had he not picked up an injury in December that then forced him to miss 10 Championship games in a row.

The 25-year-old is thought to be of interest to Wolves, who have conducted ‘various surveys’ on the player. But there is competition in the form of RB Salzburg, Stuttgart and AS Monaco, who are currently the ‘most ‘interested’.

Latte Lath could be good squad addition

Depending on how much Middlesbrough would want, Latte Lath could be a decent signing for Wolves. Last term he adapted well to English football and he might have been have been challenging for the Golden Boot had it not been for his injury.

We saw last season at Wolves how injuries took hold in the second half of the season, so it might be good to have another out-and-out striker in 2024/25.

Latte Lath’s haul of 18 goals last term meant he scored more than both of Wolves’ top scorers from last season Cunha and Hwang (both 13 in all competitions). He also got more than Wolves’ new signing Strand Larsen got for Celta Vigo (13).

But since the £10k-a-week Latte Lath only signed for Boro last summer, it is fairly unlikely Wolves will sign him. Michael Carrick will see him as an important player for their promotion push in 2024/25, so there is little chance of a deal on the cheap.
