Wolves joined in Kevin Danso transfer race by Aston Villa as new development and price tag shared

There is still hope for Wolves to sign Kevin Danso, but the club have work to do.

This week, the Lens defender has come back on the agenda at Molineux, having reportedly rejected a move to the club at the start of the window.

Wolves have made two unsuccessful bids for Danso, who is thought to be ready to leave the club this month.

Rennes are reported to be pushing hard to Danso, with their status as a top-flight club in France currently under threat.

There was frustration for Wolves fans when it was reported that Danso wanted to make a move to Rennes following their interest.

But there have now been some more developments.

According to information from Foot Mercato tonight, things are ‘hotting up’ for Danso.

The player looks set to leave Lens in the coming days, it just seems to be a case of who wins the race.

There is good news for Wolves in that Rennes have now seen a bid rejected for Danso. That offer was thought to be worth around £19.3 million.

It is stated that Lens are looking for a fee of around £25 million in total.

Wolves remain in talks with Lens for the player, and the E&S have suggested that Wolves are going to come back in with a third offer.

But there is some potentially bad news.

Journalist Sebastien Denis, who wrote the article in Foot Mercato, says that Aston Villa are ‘on the lookout’ for Danso.

Villa have already agreed personal terms with Wolves target Axel Disasi, but there has not yet been an agreement between them and Chelsea.

Villa interest in Danso is bad news for Wolves

So as with Disasi, Villa are now looking at another player Wolves want to sign in Danso.

One gets the feeling there will be several more twists and turns in this sage but as of right now, it’s not looking good for Wolves.

Danso is thought to favour a move to Rennes, but they’ve failed with a bid.

Villa might come to the table with a bid and the picture could change.

There’s now little over a week remaining in the transfer window to get deals done and Matt Hobbs needs to pull something out of the bag.

If Wolves finish this window with only Emmanuel Agbadou as a new signing, fans are going to be furious and relegation will be a huge possibility.
