Wolves star Joao Gomes is attracting attention from top Premier League clubs including Manchester City, ahead of the summer transfer window.

Joao Gomes’ rise has not gone unnoticed since he arrived in England, with attention building around him as Wolves prepare for life in the Championship.

Interest has started to build steadily of late, with clubs tracking his development as his role and influence has grown at Wolves.

There have been links to other clubs for a while now, and most recently Napoli have been credited with an interest in Gomes.

But a new report from TEAMtalk reveals that a number of England’s top clubs are showing interest in Wolves’ number eight.

Gomes is drawing interest from multiple Premier League clubs, with both Liverpool and Manchester United ready to ramp up their efforts to sign the player.

But they are not the only clubs keen, with the following mentioned in the report:

This level of attention places him among the most closely watched midfielders currently outside the traditional top sides.

The club’s likely relegation will almost certainly mean he leaves, and for cheaper than his true market value.

Gomes – who cost Wolves £15 million (via BBC Sport) – has previously indicated that he would like to play for Liverpool one day, so perhaps the Reds will be one club to watch in particular.

United’s interest in Gomes has been well documented, especially with Casemiro leaving at the end of the season

But Manchester City have also made an enquiry over Gomes, and that’s interesting to consider, as Pep Guardiola’s side have done business with Wolves several times in recent years.

Gomes may fancy Man City switch

City have apparently made an enquiry for Gomes, who has seen a couple of his former teammates head to the Etihad Stadium before

City previously signed Matheus Nunes from Wolves in 2023, and they also moved for Rayan Ait-Nouri last summer.

Wolves also snagged Tommy Doyle from City in a separate deal when Nunes went the other way. So there is a good relationship between the clubs

It remains to be seen if Guardiola’s side will come calling once again. But interest in Gomes is certainly hotting up, and that can only be a positive for Wolves in terms of selling for the highest possible price.

The more clubs at the table, the greater the final fee. And that fee will help Wolves to rebuild.
